JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Production Technician position is responsible for set ups and troubleshooting production machine issues.   Assemble, align, troubleshoot, adjust, test and maintain machine components, sub assemblies, systems and associated support equipment.  Understand machine metrics and reporting status of machines. Interpreting machine metrics to make improvements for better machine efficiency.  Guide and train employees on all machines.      

KEY RESPONSIB ILITIES:

  • Set up laser to required parameters based on specifications to produce quality parts.
  • Start the machining process.   Monitor quality parts and efficiency of process.
  • Record all machine and product parameters and adjust if needed.
  • Inspect/measure machined part for quality and accuracy using appropriate inspection system and verifying conformance to specifications.
  • Follow all procedures and work instructions pertaining to the job/parts specifications including laser safety procedures and best practices.
  • Reject any parts not meeting specifications and reporting issues to Quality for inspection.
  • Keep equipment and work area clean and tidy at all times
  • Expedite requisitions for new parts and resources as needed.
  • Monitor supply of gases to the laser systems.
  • Keep records, paperwork, and data entry accurate and up-to-date
  • Monitoring and reporting machine metrics.   Make decisions based on machine metrics to make changes or schedule repairs as necessary to meet the demands of the customers.
  • Training Operators and staff when needed machine operations and machine safety.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with all SPG and Dupont safety policies and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS: (Education/Experience/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

EDUCATION:

  • Associates Degree or higher education
  • Some manufacturing and technical experience

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

Mathematical Skills - Basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division

Reasoning Ability - Ability to form independent conclusions related to tasks.

Physical demands - The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Good eye to hand coordination
  • Some manufacturing and technical experience
  • Personal characteristics that maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that products positive results with customer, clients, managers and co-workers.
  • Excellent judgement and trouble shooting skills
  • Ability to understand software and enter data into a computer

 WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Works under general supervision.
  • In office environment and on the manufacturing plant floor.
