Account Manager / Account Director (Houston, TX) (Finance)



Position Description

This role is part of the dynamic commercial team responsible for transportation, storage, and park and loan transactions, and natural gas purchase/sales. The candidate will analyze market data to develop and manage park and loan positions. The candidate will negotiate and communicate strategies and initiatives within Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America (NGPL) in order to maximize opportunities. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for managing customer relationships. Job title will be commensurate with experience. This position will report to the Director of Commercial.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop and recommend commercial strategies and opportunities, including performing due diligence and price discovery in support of maximizing revenue and mitigating price risk relating to park and loan (LPS), short-term interruptible transport, short and long-term firm transport, and firm storage services.
  • Maintain awareness of changing market conditions, new developments and competitive strategies.
  • Present and support commercial strategies to senior management.
  • Develop working knowledge of NGPL's Tariff
  • Identify opportunities supported by asset positions
  • Communicate proactively with customers to develop relationships and identify commercial opportunities and risks in order to drive long-term revenue goals
  • Interact proactively with internal departments including Commercial Operations, Information Technologies, Business Development, Capacity Planning, Legal, Regulatory, Contract Services, Scheduling, Gas Accounting and other departments to remain informed of issues that may impact services.
  • Negotiate and renegotiate transportation and storage agreements
  • Prepare and review contracts related to transportation, storage and LPS deals transacted
  • Identify business opportunities and resolve contractual, administrative and operational issues related to the customer group which includes producers, gas marketers, gas processors, other pipelines, LDCs, power generators and other end users.

Position Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Work Experience
Experience / Specific Knowledge:
  • At least 3 -5 years of natural gas industry experience required.
  • Trading responsibility, PNL management, and position maintenance experience is preferred.
  • Pipeline commercial or operational experience is a plus.
  • Superior skills and extensive knowledge of MS Office with emphasis on Excel required.
  • Excellent financial/economic modeling skills and ability to develop data analysis tools to support candidate's role required.
  • Experience in physical natural gas trading including storage and pipeline transportation activity preferred.
  • Experience managing term basis and index positions preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of natural gas fundamentals and markets.
  • Job level will commensurate with experience and knowledge

  • Candidate should be outgoing, energetic, pleasant and self-motivated. Must be articulate, work well under pressure, consistently meet deadlines, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and work well in a strong, collaborative team environment.
Working Environment
  • Open Office environment, some overnight travel required
