Position Informaton: Provides assistance to a researchers by collecting data, keeping records, conducting literature searches, technical research, analyzing data, and preparing reports with minimal supervision. Essential Duties:
Performs laboratory tasks related to flow cytometry and imaging applications performed in the core laboratory.
Assists and trains researchers on use of instrumentation and in using analysis software.
Reports directly to laboratory manager and Core Director.
Assists with reagent and supply ordering and in keeping records of services provided.
Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in a Biological Science, Chemistry, Physical Science, or related field Experience: 24 months research/laboratory experience Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months equivalent experience in lieu of the Bachelor's Degree for a total of 72 months research assistant/technician experience. Skills:
Must be computer literate and be able to learn basic analysis software for a variety of instruments
Working knowledge of how to handle biohazardous materials or chemicals following Federal, State, and University regulations and guidelines
Ability to analyze data and keep records
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
Ability to supervise research technicians or assistants
Experience with flow cytometry or microscopy is preferred, but not essential
