Traffic & Programming Specialist (Finance)



Department: Salary: $56,800.00-$72,400.00
Description:
The Houston Public Media Traffic and Programming Specialist provides leadership and guidance to broadcast
programming and traffic/log management. This dynamic self-starter works in close collaboration with external
programming partners with the goal of growing audience and scheduling programs and breaks. This person will
also work with third party log and master control vendors to ensure successful scheduling of programs,
underwriting, self-promotion and other break elements. This person will provide programming and scheduling
support to all relevant departments. The successful candidate will be extraordinarily detailed oriented and work
closely with marketing, creative services, digital, content and fundraising teams to execute programming and
audience growth strategies.

1. Ensures that Houston Public Media standards are met in all programming we present and produce.

2. Works closely with other traffic personnel and underwriting teams to ensure grids and program logs are complete.

3. Communicates programming grids and updates to staff, leadership, listing services and master control teams.

4. Tracks broadcast, FVOD and paid digital (Passport) trends and metrics and recommends programming strategies to support all distribution efforts.

5. Works with marketing and promotions to develop self-promotion strategies based on current and future programming objectives.

6. Ensure successful execution of radio and television daily logs.

7. Collaborate with broadcast programming colleagues across Texas and the US on special projects, breaking news coverage and PBS tent pole productions.

8. Develop strategy and implement recurring delivery of timely and evergreen interstitial content.

9. Other duties as assigned.

Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional disciplines. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related, 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.

Experience: Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience.
