Ramp and Facilities Manager | KBNA (Transportation)



Position Summary

The Ramp and Facilities Manager will maintain facility records and ensure the smooth operation and high-quality appearance of the facility in addition to managing other line service technicians and/or vendors, while being responsible for the safe operation of aircraft ground movements, aircraft fueling, maintaining the fuel farm, and all associated records. The Ramp and Facilities Manager ensures that the aviation facility is staffed for all passenger trip arrivals and departures, and personnel are properly trained and operating in accordance with established standard operating procedures.  This position reports to the Chief Business Officer of FBOs for Clay Lacy Aviation and functionally to SF Aviation's Director of Operations.

  • Location:  Nashville, TN (KBNA)
  • Compensation: $98,500.00 - $129,900.00 plus benefits.

Facility Duties and Responsibilities

  • Trains and manages other onsite personnel and schedules to conduct facility operations, facility maintenance, and ensure the facility is operated and maintained in accordance with CLA policies, procedures, and in accordance with Nashville International Airport (BNA) Rules and Regulations.
  • Evaluates the work quality of staff and vendors.
  • Coordinates with Manager to ensure proper reporting and escalation of critical items.
  • Works closely with SF Aviation's Director of Operations to coordinate day-to-day scheduling and operations of the facilities and movement of aircraft. 
  • Ensures proper functioning of all elements of the aviation facility and maintains facilities budget.
  • Maintains facility records in an organized fashion related to facility operations and maintenance.
  • Monitors current condition of electrical, air conditioning and heating, plumbing, and other essential facility equipment, schedules preventative maintenance, repair, or replacement as required.
  • Develops routine checks and monitoring cadence to identify facility problems as early as possible.
  • Other duties and tasks assigned.

Ramp and Line Service Duties and Responsibilities

  • Actively uses the companies Safety Management System (SMS) and participates in quarterly safety meetings.
  • Trains and manages other onsite personnel and schedules to conduct safe and efficient movement of aircraft, aircraft fueling, fuel farm operations, ensuring all ramp and hangar activities are operated and maintained in accordance with CLA policies, procedures, and in accordance with Nashville International Airport (BNA) Rules and Regulations.
  • Provides baggage handling and trip arrival and departure logistics support to all passengers and aircraft operations staff at the aviation facility.
  • Maintains safe and clean work areas in the aircraft hangar.
  • Ensures safe movement of aircraft in and out of the hangar per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Safely utilizes ground support equipment, such as tugs and carts.
  • Marshals all aircraft in and out of the ramp area.
  • Ensures securing of all aircraft.
  • Provides GPU, Water, and Lavatory services; including disposal of lavatory contents.
  • Provides general cleaning of the hangar floors, and ground service equipment (GSE).
  • Services all GSE with running fuels, oil, and provides general maintenance of all GSE.
  • Reports customer service and safety concerns to the Director of Operations for resolution.
  • Provides light interior aircraft cleaning such as garbage removal, floors vacuuming and wiping down galley, lavatory, and cabin tables and surfaces.
  • Complies with International Waste protocols, and ensures third-party incinerator company removes waste in a timely manner.
  • Removes waste and recycling from hangar trash bins.
  • Ensures Quality control of the fuel farm per ASTM Standards, including testing of fuel (delivery and tank testing) and other functions in accordance with company SOPs.
  • Oversees technical fuel farm equipment maintenance.
  • Supervises fuel tank refueling operations.
  • Complies with all Environmental Laws (hazardous materials handling, fuel storage, stormwater management, etc.).
  • Complies with Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans.
  • Escorts vendors visiting facility as requested by the Director of Operations;.
  • Posts OSHA & MSDS (Aka Safety Data Sheets) in the facility as required by local, state, and federal law.
  • Regularly tests eyewash stations for function.
  • Ensures hangar First Aid Supplies are stocked and easily found.
  • Ensures Hazmat Storage and Disposal at direction of SF Aviation's Director of Maintenance.
  • Assists in shipping and receiving functions at the facility.
  • Maintains and updates customer profiles to ensure consistent service.
  • Other duties and tasks assigned

Position-Specific Skills

Three to five-plus years of work in aviation line service and facilities operations.  Prior supervisory experience in related field.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The position requires the supervision of various employees including individual contributors.

  • The following functions may be performed in variable weather and environmental conditions such as jet engine fumes, dust, or noise.

Travel Expectations

 

Minimal travel is expected, only for training once annually.

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in private aviation line service and facilities operations.
  • Prior supervisory or management experience in a related field.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
  • Valid, unexpired U.S. driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Experience with aircraft ground handling (towing, marshalling, fueling, lav/water services, GPU) and fuel farm operations in compliance with ASTM standards.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, MSDS/SDS requirements, and environmental compliance (hazardous materials, stormwater management, SPCC/SWPPP).
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required by flight operations.
