Chemist (Finance)
Perform chemical analysis and physical property testing of materials and products.
Research, design and develop new production processes.
Coordinate and perform tests to ensure chemistry complies.
Analyze data to develop conclusions.
Communicate results of analysis and research.
Evaluate current processes and develop improvements to safety, quality and efficiency.
Create standards and specifications for processes, facilities, products and tests.
Assist in the establishment of timelines and budgets.
Perform routine calibration and troubleshooting of instruments.
Provide training and mentorship to chemistry staff.
Provides help and direction to ensure facility compliance with Federal, state and local environmental laws and regulations.
Responsible for auditing and evaluating the divisions' chemistry, environmental and waste management performance and working with division leadership to fill the gaps to ensure compliance
Review and audit all waste handling equipment to ensure proper operation and compliance.
Suggest improvements in physical equipment, chemicals and procedures for existing systems and assist in developing new systems for expanding business.
Drive continuous improvement and cost out related projects related to chemistry costs throughout the organization.
Ensure that all records related to chemistry documentation, reporting and recordkeeping are submitted on time, maintained, and archived.
Assist in assuring compliance with applicable environmental laws and regulations, to include but not limited to: employee training, centralized documentation, tracking and reporting.
Desired Education/Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, environmental management or related technical degree, or sufficient work-related industry experience in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to travel 0 - 10%
Demonstrated ability to get things done through others by building programs and teams.
Ability to interact with all levels of employees - shop floor to senior management and with other third parties such as government inspectors, engineers, and vendors.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
Ability to problem solve and drive to root cause solutions for permanent and systemic corrective action.
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word. Experience with software-based EMS preferred.
Physical/Environmental/Chemical Hazards
Sharp parts, sharp tooling, heavy carts, occasional hot and cold temperature and humidity levels, heat from ovens, moderate noise levels, limited hand and air tool use, compressed air (must use hearing protection).
Must be able to lift 30-50 lbs. unassisted.
Potential splash exposure near process lines.
