Specialized Support Worker - Day Treatment Program (Personal Services)



Position Summary: The Specialized Support Worker (SSW) position is an integral part of a fast paced treatment team of experienced clinical and educational personnel. The Specialized Support Worker supports the program and education staff in creating a structured environment for children and adolescents who have behavioral health needs and require additional support. The SSW plays a pivotal role by facilitating therapeutic and/or psychoeducational skills groups, documenting daily activities and behaviors, presentation of students, and providing the guidance and encouragement needed for students to reach their wellness and educational goals.
REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Bachelor's Degree in psychology, counseling, sociology, social work, nursing, neuroscience or other clinical field AND at least 2 years experience working with children and adolescents in a clinical mental health environment.  Preference for those with knowledge and experience in a Juvenile Justice system.
  2. Must have audio/visual/verbal activity to provide supervision for the clients and to perform essential job functions.
  3. Must have physical dexterity in order to assist in physical interventions as necessary.
  4. Must complete and pass agency Crisis/Physical Intervention training.
  5. Must have emotional stability to perform essential job functions.
  6. Must possess verbal and written communication skills.
  7. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record is required. 
  8. Access to a telephone.
  9. Must be eligible for PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse History clearance and FBI clearance. 
  10. Must be able to identify with the Agency's Mission Statement and support the agency's Core Values.

  4. Provide natural/logical consequences adhering to the principles of the Positive Behavior Management training.
  5. Demonstrate the ability to appropriately use Therapeutic Crisis Intervention techniques.
  6. Demonstrate the ability to use less restrictive interventions in a consistent and professional manner.
  7. Display the ability to accurately assess and respond to crisis situations.
  8. Participate in staff and client debriefing
