Position: Control Room Operator

Reports to: Production Superintendent

Shift: Dupont rotating four week schedule, 12 hour shifts

Pay: Starting at $28/hr

What you'll be contributing:

Works closely with Production Supervisors/Manager, Quality Control, Production Foreman and Process Attendants on plant operations. Monitors control panels, computer terminals or other control systems and resolves plant-related issues associated with equipment temperatures, malfunctions, sensor alarms and plant production.

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines
  • Operates multi-function central process control machinery to grind, separate, filter, treat, refine or otherwise process various materials.
  • Makes routine checks of plant equipment and processes.
  • May involve observing computer-printouts, video monitors and gauges to verify specified processing conditions and to make necessary adjustments.
  • Coordinates equipment for starting up and shutting down production systems in cases of emergency or as required by schedule.
  • Participates in safety audits and programs and provides emergency response when required.
  • Reports process problems to the Production Foreman and Process Attendants.
  • Responsible for various assigned tasks when plant is not in operation or operator is not needed in control room.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor

To succeed in this position, you will need:

  • High school graduation or equivalent is required
  • Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc. Willingness to learn, training will be provided
  • Must be able to distinguish difference in color codes on computers and video monitors.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Working knowledge of PC operations.
  • Must be able to work overtime, odd and unscheduled hours as required and share on-call duties. This position requires the ability to work a swing/rotating shift.

What to expect in a cement environment :

Work to be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations of up to 250 feet in height. Exposure to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure.
