Senior Controls Verification Engineer - Surgical Robotics (Finance)
As a senior member of the Controls Verification team, you will be a technical leader for the verification of the control software for the instrumentation's robotic subsystem. This involves overseeing a team developing automated and manual tests to verify the sophisticated embedded real-time platform and the instrument control software for the operation of the embedded actuator and sensor hardware. In addition, the role will involve supporting the electromechanical verification of the core surgical instruments, stapling and ligature instruments with the corresponding control software.

You will:
• Lead a team verifying controls software for robotic manipulators and surgical instruments
• Lead a team integrating and testing new controller designs on hardware and with the rest of the robotic platform
• Conduct software and product hardware-in-loop testing and create model and prototypes
• Review teammates MATLAB/Simulink models and ensure that all software meets quality standards; prepare and participate in design reviews
• Document or participate in the documentation of the software including verification test plans and reports
• Lead the definition and implementation of different software testing techniques to increase test coverage in both automation and manual testing.
• Understand the technical behavior of the system, architecture, software requirements with an aptitude to identify product defects in all phases of development.
• Lead development of solutions that have significant improvements of processes and test development with aptitude for continue improvement.
• Work with the Project Management Office to coordinate dry runs and formal verification activities as required
• Collaborate with technical engineering teams, mentor junior test engineers.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
• Development of verification test methods to evaluate performance metrics of complex, electromechanical medical systems
• Proficient use of modeling & simulation software (MATLAB/Simulink strongly preferred)
• Familiarity with multi-body kinematics and dynamics
• Familiarity with position, velocity, and torque feedback controllers
• Experience with real-time software on microprocessor-based systems and developing software in a Linux environment (Ubuntu preferred)
• Medical product development experience including hands-on experience with medical/surgical devices/instruments; familiarity with medical device regulations including IEC 62304
• Experience with a big company with matrix structures, having already worked with cross functional teams using Agile/Scrum/SAFe methodologies
• Familiarity with scripting language, preferably Python for generation of automated tests.
• Experience SDLC process and tools including JIRA, Git, JAMA, Bitbucket(Stash) and Bamboo
• Ability to work with QA to ensure testing meets Quality and Regulatory needs.
• Ability to manage, track and upgrade multiple hardware and software configurations.
• Ability to work with Systems, Mechanical, Electrical and Software engineers when discovering, documenting, and resolving integration issues.
Work-from-Home and Standard Office setting in Boston, MA. Some limited travel may be required.
