WHO YOU ARE 

As a Yard Jockey, you will be responsible for supporting warehouse operations by safely and efficiently maneuvering trailers to and from dock doors. This position also involves transporting goods between buildings using a box truck and assisting with trailer loading and unloading using a forklift. Your attention to safety and coordination will help ensure smooth logistics and timely product movement.

WHERE YOU WILL WORK  

Our distribution center is located in Carlisle, PA.   

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Safety and properly transport trailers, to assigned dock doors, as directed.

Perform required “daily” inspections of tractor and trailers and communicate as such.

Keep active logs of trailer movement, assist in yard and slot management.

Properly secure loads and ensure loads are within weight limits.

Assist in other logistical processes per business necessity.

Follows all policies and procedures, best practices, and safety regulations.

Must be PIT certified and demonstrate competency with RF scanning devices.

Keep facilities, equipment, tools, vehicles, trailers and materials neat, clean, and orderly, adhering to sanitation practices.

Efficiently load, unload, move, stock, and stage products using material handling equipment.

Maintain inventory accuracy records and reports.

Follow all AMES policies, procedures, best practices, and safety regulations.

Comply with OSHA regulations and MSDS standards.

Conduct operations safely.

REQUIREMENTS  

Prior experience operating a “Yard Truck” is preferred.

Pass and be able to keep a clean driving record.

Must pass and maintain industrial lift certification.

Valid Class A Driver's License.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) recommended; or three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Must be able to complete simple math, to include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

ENVIRONMENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS  

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand on concrete floor with/without floor mats; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms (which may include above and/or below shoulders); bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.  The employee is regularly required to use left and/or right hand for simple grasping; fine work, pushing/pulling and fast paced assembly.  The employee is occasionally required to walk, climb or balance.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.  The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places and vibration.  The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
