Desktop System Specialist (Finance)

Job Description

Job Summary:

Performs the installation, repair and preventative maintenance of workstation computers and related systems. Assists in determining suitable software to meet user requirements. Troubleshoots software and hardware failures and identifies network problems when they relate to workstation (laptop, desktop, Mac, Linux) computers. Conducts failure analysis on critical systems.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Works on problems of limited scope. Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained. Contact with others is primarily internal.
  • Installation and customization of desktop hardware and software to meet company and departmental requirements.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues on computers and peripherals.
  • Works on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative.
  • Assist users with desktop systems utilizing standard ticketing systems, phone or in-office help as applicable.
  • Works on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles.
  • Perform role of vendor support contact for internal support and maintenance issues required for desktop systems, software and peripherals.
  • Creates formal networks involving coordination among groups.
  • Determines methods and procedures on new assignments,
  • Understands implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions.
  • Effective communication techniques, able to interact with internal and external personnel.
  • Displays the ability to quickly adapt to changing requirements, special assignments and workload prioritization.
  • Initiative: Displays strong personal initiative and motivation to achieve desired performance results and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelors/AS degree or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum 5 years related experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency with a variety of networking and end-user hardware/software applications including Windows, Office, SharePoint, and others.
  • A broad understanding of hardware and software, operating systems and basic computer programing or scripting
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Windows, Mac and Linux systems
  • A broad understanding of security agents, and how to troubleshoot and mitigate potential impacts on systems
  • Preferred - professional certifications
  • Must be able to sit, keyboard, use a computer and/or view a computer monitor for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to communicate orally and in writing using the English language
  • Preferred - current Security Clearance or eligibility to obtain
