Environmental Health & Safety Specialist (Finance)

We are currently seeking a well-qualified candidate for the position of Environmental Health and Safety Specialist, located in Endicott, NY. This person will support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role plays a key part in fostering a preventative safety culture, reducing environmental impact, and driving continuous improvement of EHSS performance. Duties and Responsibilities: Development and Implementation. Develops, implements, and maintains preventative safety policies, procedures, and programs to meet regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Works collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment to implement building and job safety systems. Compliance. Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations. Keeps up-to-date on changes in regulations, industry standards, and best practices. Oversees the proper documentation, handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous chemicals and waste. Conducting Audits. Conducts regular inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and processes to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance. Acts as the lead for external audits. Training and Communication. Provides training to employees on safety procedures, hazard recognition, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Communicates EHS information to management, employees, and external stakeholders. Risk Mitigation. Investigates accidents, near misses, and hazardous conditions to determine root causes and implement corrective actions. Identifies, assesses, and manages potential hazards in the workplace, including chemical, physical, and biological hazards. Perform Job Hazard Analyses to contribute to a preventative safety culture. Record Keeping and Reporting. Collects, analyzes, and reports on EHS data to identify trends, track performance, and measure the effectiveness of safety programs. Maintains an electronic and hard copy up-to-date log of Safety Data Sheets, logging revisions as necessary. Qualification and Skills: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field. 2+ years' experience in a position qualifying as environmental health and safety, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Proven record of conducting effective Job Hazard Analysis, with sustainable solution implementation. Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations. Knowledge of federal, state, and local building codes preferred. OSHA Certifications preferred, but not required. (i.e. 511, 521, 2015, 7100, 7105, 7115, 7500, 7505, 7510) Ability to effectively communicate, build relationships across levels and functions, and influence at all levels of an organization. Ability to manage, lead, and coordinate multiple projects at once. Effective communication skills with all levels of the organization. Proficient in Microsoft Office. In-depth knowledge of EHSS regulations and standards, including environmental sustainability practices and compliance requirements. Experience developing and implementing site-specific safety programs and coordinating EHSS training initiatives. Ability to identify and manage environmental risks, develop sustainability initiatives, and ensure adherence to statutory requirements. Amphenol offers a competitive salary and benefits.
