Energy Resource Analyst I (R&D)

EWEB seeks an entry-level Energy Resource Analyst to support its long-term Power Planning team. The Energy Resource Analyst I will support the development and implementation of EWEB's integrated energy resource plan and work with internal and external staff to influence policy and regulatory decisions related to energy, capacity, transmission and environmental attributes. This position will speak on behalf of EWEB in regional working groups, subcommittees and task forces as needed. The candidate's initial focus will be EWEB's power purchase agreements (specifically, the Bonneville Power Administration Regional Dialogue Contract), and their relationship to EWEB's long-term resource portfolio.
The Energy Resource Analyst I will analyze the impact of regional, state, and local policy on EWEB's power and transmission contracts, resource portfolio, finances, and operations. This position will develop a comprehensive understanding of regional markets (including but not limited to northwest wholesale markets, Energy Imbalance Markets (EIM), Resource Adequacy, Regional Transmission Organizations (RTO) or Independent System Operators (ISOs), and carbon pricing) and will support development of the complex models and analyses necessary to determine their impact to EWEB's power portfolio. In order to understand EWEB's power portfolio, the successful candidate will develop operational knowledge around EWEB's trading, scheduling, risk management and hedging practices. The analyst will strive to align emerging policy and business practices with EWEB's organizational goals and operations. The successful candidate will have the ability to analyze and communicate complex ideas, build relationships internally throughout the NW region, and identify and advocate for those policies that are in the best interest of EWEB and its customer owners.

The starting salary for this position is between $67,910.35 -$84,888.10 annually, commensurate with knowledge, skills, education, and experience as it relates to the position.

Minimum Training & Experience Required:
Minimum Experience: At least one year of progressively responsible experience in one or more of the following: project or program management, resource planning, contract management & negotiations, Policy/regulation development and implementation (including governmental affairs), risk management, analyzing complex data or statistical modeling.
Education: Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, accounting, mathematics, science, engineering or related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may qualify.
Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be qualifying.
