ITS Technician II (Information Technology)



TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of Roper Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: ROP) is seeking an ITS Technician II to join our team in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas area.  

 

Job Summary:   ITS Technician II will perform on-site or in-house servicing, repair and/or installation of Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) owned roadway Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) devices and infrastructure. This job may include any aspect of field support and installation, and is not limited to electrical, data, and fiber optic cable installation; conduit and pull box installation; and pole and foundation installation.  Determines most effective means to install equipment to maximize efficiency.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Tests and troubleshoots ITS related devices to ensure they work correctly.
  • Installs equipment including but not limited to cameras, detectors, controller cabinets and message signs.
  • Installs electrical conductor, data conductor, and fiber optic cable.
  • Installs pull boxes, conduit, poles and foundations.
  • Connects conductors to equipment to make equipment work correctly.
  • Connects electrical conductors to power services to energize equipment.
  • Prepares logs to keep track of field conditions and installation activities.

 

Education:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

Language Skills:  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

Reasoning Ability:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Driving is a key requirement for this position.

The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
