JOB SUMMARY:Responsible for pouring and finishing concrete for projects of the County Road and Bridge Department.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Pours and finishes concrete for the County Road and Bridge projects. Makes all measurements for construction projects, calculate cubic yards of concrete, and make estimates of other materials needed. Assists with the building of frames and other carpentry for construction projects requiring concrete. Assists with the construction of bridges, including wooden bridges. Furnishes own hand tools for concrete finishing.

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs other related duties as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:Duties are performed in an outdoor environment with frequent exposure to undesirable weather conditions. Careful attention must be exercised with the operation of tools and equipment to reduce exposure to injuries.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

Good knowledge of the principles and techniques involved in the pouring and finishing of concrete.Good knowledge of the various tools and equipment used to pour and finish concrete.Good knowledge of basic carpentry techniques.Ability to make basic mathematical calculations.Ability to attend work regularly and reliably.Skill in the use of various handheld and power tools.Skill in the use of a calculator.Skill in pouring and finishing concrete.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Digital dexterity is necessary to operate hand and power tools and equipment.Visual acuity is necessary to ensure efficient work completion and the safety of citizens and fellow workers.Ability to stand for long periods of time.Ability to lift and carry loads up to 50 pounds.Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.Ability to concentrate for long periods of time.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Completion of standard grade school courses with the ability to read and write and make mathematical calculations; three years of experience in concrete finishing; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
