Vice President & General Manager - SE Timberlands (Legal)



We have an office located in Bogart, Georgia, and the person in this role may reside in the Metro Atlanta area, with regular travel to the office and field sites as needed.

What the job is:As our Vice President and General Manager of the Southern Timberlands, youll lead the division with full responsibility for managing timberlands to maximize long-term value, operational efficiency, and environmental stewardship. From harvest planning and strategic acquisitions to customer relationships and capital investment, youll oversee the full scope of operations. Youll also serve as the point of contact for our asset manager and board. This role blends high-level business strategy with a strong commitment to safety, community engagement, and responsible resource management.

Key Responsibilities:
Champion a safe work culture and model our companys core valuessafety, integrity, stewardship, community, and profitability.
Oversee all aspects of Southern Timberlands operations, ensuring compliance with legal, environmental, and contractual obligations.
Drive short- and long-term strategic plansfrom annual harvest targets to capital investments.
Build strong relationships with customers, contractors, and local communities, and represent the company in regulatory and industry settings.
Collaborate closely with asset managers and executive leadership, preparing detailed reporting and analysis.
Identify and assess opportunities for growth, including acquisitions, divestitures, and innovative forest management approaches.
Mentor and develop a strong team, ensuring leadership depth and effective succession planning.
Monitor performance and adjust operational strategies in response to changing market conditions.
Be a key contributor in cross-functional projects and decision-making efforts.

The Department:The Southern Timberlands Division is a committed, high-performing team that blends hands-on forestry expertise with strategic, long-range thinking. The team manages timberlands for both profitability and sustainability, and we take pride in delivering results.

What you need:
Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Business, or a related field.
15+ years of progressive experience in timberlands and business management.
Proven ability to lead large teams and deliver results across complex operational and strategic landscapes.
Deep understanding of timber harvesting, reforestation, log merchandising, and regulatory frameworks.
Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skillswith customers, contractors, and stakeholders at every level.
A forward-thinking mindset and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Bonus points if you have:
A Masters degree in Forest Management or Business Administration.
Experience working proactively with regulatory agencies and industry associations.

Compensation:Annual Salary Range: $200,000 $300,000 per year. The pay range listed is just one component of Green Diamonds total compensation package.Other rewards include eligibility to receive a company-wide annual financial performance bonus, and the opportunity to receive an individual performance-based bonus, candidate referral bonuses, and spot bonuses.
