Anesthesiologist (Healthcare)



Summary:
The Anesthesiologist works in collaboration with CCOC leadership to coordinate operations in specific unit(s).
Essential Job Functions/Accountabilities:
Specializes in the planning, delivery, and monitoring of anesthesia. Examines the patient to determine type of anesthetic needed. Administers local, intravenous, or spinal anesthetic. Records type and amount of anesthesia, and determines condition of patient before, during, and after sedation.

Capable of performing the functions of a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) and takes an assignment in staffing ORs and assisting with regional blocks.
Responsible for supporting quality patient care in multiple clinical areas, based on law, practice standards, accrediting body standards, the philosophy, policies, and procedures for Patient Care and Surgical Services Departments. Assures appropriate staffing and other resources are available to meet patient needs. Coordinates staffing throughout shift and for future shifts.
Responsible for assuming on-site supervision for the continuum of care in their respective department(s). Responsibilities include managing resource allocation within the unit(s), facilitating patient flow, ensuring quality care, practicing clinical and departmental problem solving and communication with administrator on call when appropriate. Coordinates patient flow through the continuum of care while providing efficient, effective, and quality care.
Assists management team in the professional and technical development of staff through mentoring, annual competencies, and facilitation of staff communication and/or meetings. Functions in role of mentor to assist staff in further IT, staff development, and survey readiness. Acts as preceptor in the orientation/education development of all staff members.
Responsible for planning, collaborating, and problem solving with managers of other departments about service and patient care issues. Responsible for staff evaluations; provides input into hiring decisions and corrective actions as needed. Responsible for first line immediate resolution of patient complaints. Facilitates timely transfer of patients with declining medical statuses to a facility that is able to provide a higher level of care.

Position Requirements
Education:
Requires a MD. Requires State License to Practice.
Must be a graduate of a School of Nurse Anesthesia accredited by the Council on Accreditation of the American Association of the Nurse Anesthetists (AANA).
Experience:
3-5 years of experience preferred, 1-3 years of leadership experience preferred
Technical Skills:
Competency in the clinical responsibilities involved in providing anesthesia services.
Certifications/Licenses/Registrations/Insurability:

Must have a current licensure as a registered nurse (RN) and a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) from the Ohio Board of Nursing.
Must have current certification and continued professional certification (CPC) with the National Board of Certification Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) and State Board of Nursing endorsement.
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) are required.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification
Insurable by an appropriate medical malpractice insurer for the limits required by this institution or state.
