Ashland has an exciting opportunity for an Instrument/Electrical Technician to join our Ashland LLC business at our Calvert City, Kentucky location. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the manufacturing function. This position will report to the Maintenance Manager.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • The candidate must work in a SAFE manner, and support all company safety, health, environmental, and quality programs and policies. The successful applicant will be required to attend scheduled team meetings and complete safety training requirements.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Perform complex troubleshooting, installation, routine maintenance and repair techniques on electrical components, instrument, computer/PLC controlled and mechanical equipment.
  • Interact professionally with site personnel, visitors, contractors, and individuals at all levels within the Ashland organization.  
  • Demonstrate the ability to navigate through basic computer functions, read and interpret drawings / diagrams (i.e., loop sheets, one-line diagrams, ladder diagrams, etc.).
  • Must complete required paperwork and forms associated with maintenance activities (i.e., work order, permit, etc.).
  • The candidate must be willing to work overtime assignments as they occur as well as work different shift schedules as needed and respond to call-in emergencies.
  • The candidate must be able to work collaboratively in a team-based environment.
  • The candidate must have effective written and verbal communication and listening skills.

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

  • The successful candidate must have received the certification of a Journeyman electrician by completing a five (5) year National Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee apprenticeship program and have fulfilled all the requirements of said program to obtain the Journeyman status or an individual who has earned a minimum of a two (2) year associate degree/certification in instrumentation with a minimum of five (5) years verifiable work experience in the industrial field.
  • The candidate must have an active Commonwealth of Kentucky Electrical License or active Certification from an approved Instrumentation Program.
  • The candidate must be currently employed and/or employed as a Journeyman Electrician and/or Journeyman Instrument Technician within the last 12 months of his/her interview.
  • The candidate must have a thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and an understanding of the current NFPA 70E requirements.

The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:

  • Ability to operate small equipment (carry deck crane, telehandler, man lift, etc.) is preferred but not required at the time of hire.  Candidate will receive training on this equipment.
  • Ability to perform craft related welding task preferred.
